Today we had Moss Adams come talk to us about their firm and accounting opportunities. To give a background on Moss Adams, they are on the verge of growth. They will double their size within the next 5 years.They are the fifth largest firm in the west coast and have clients in all 50 states and internationally. They have a 1 day local conference and a 3 day national conference. To the students in the association, the internship program is still hiring! They treat you like a first year employee and it is another great opportunity to learn about accounting. The internship is an 8 week program that offers audit and tax. If you are interested in taking summer classes, you are able to do the internship and take part in session B. Moss Adams offers a lot of opportunities to network. Moss Adams tries to create an atmosphere where new hires are not trying to compete against each other to get promoted. They strive to develop a culture where employees help each other to get the job done.

Today at the Accounting Association, meeting we had BDO come in to talk to us about all the  opportunities one has at this firm. Campus recruiter Amari Mazarei talked about how BDO is the 5th largest global accounting firm with over 7 billion dollars in revenue. BDO specializes in clients that are worth around $100 -$2 billion. Some noteworthy clients include Sketchers and Monster Worldwide.  BDO strives to create a family atmosphere among its employees. When a new employee starts working, they are given a buddy and a mentor to guide them and help them with whatever problems they have. The things BDO are interested in seeing in UCSB students are good communication skills, the desire to make a difference, and hardworking individuals. BDO has a summer leadership conference called Pathway to Success. It is open to sophomores and the deadline to apply is February 20th so apply soon!
